Have you ever had to listen to cliches about studying from your circle of friends or family?? Presumably especially from those who have never graduated themselves. Students often have to contend with numerous biases. We want to find out in our new article times whether at these also something is to it.

Probably the most popular stereotype about students is that they are lazy, that studying is not a "real" job and that they just live for the day.

What many people forget, however, is that students don't have a nine-to-five job. Lectures are held between 08:00 in the morning to 21:00 in the evening in some cases. As a rule, students complete 20 to 24 semester hours per week with lectures only. Add to that the time that has to be spent on writing papers, studying and preparing for exams. In addition, almost all male and female students have a part-time job in addition to their studies. Therefore, the study of time can be compared to a full-time job, where you often have to work overtime. Especially during exam weeks, students end up doing significantly more "work" than 40 hours per week.

For sure most of the students like to party. But that's probably less because of student status and more because they're young, want to spend time with their friends, and want to experience something along the way.

Many students are financially supported by their parents. And if the parents can afford this financially, it's a great support. Despite this, a large proportion of students earn some extra money from a part-time job while studying.

In addition, according to the Federal Statistical Office, in 2021 around 468,000 students in Germany, received benefits under the Federal Training Assistance Act (BAfoG). So it is not only possible to study people where the parents fully pay for the child's studies and life.

Honestly, it must be said that students are actually quite inflexible in terms of time. Of course, they have long semester breaks in the summer, though many also use the time for internships or to earn money.

But taking a few days off during a semester is not possible in most colleges and universities. Similar to school, attendance is often compulsory. Those who are absent must submit a sick note. If you are absent too often or without excuse, you will fail.

Now let's be honest: is it any different for an apprenticeship in a company? Again, this is learning the skills to be able to professionally and competently perform the desired apprenticeship occupation.

The fact that a student teacher cannot operate on a human being and a veterinary assistant cannot install a heating system is not only completely logical, but also not at all intentional.

As with probably many things in life, you grow with your tasks and always evolve in your professional life and different job stations.

A cliche, which is often imputed to many students: they can not cook and therefore eat only frozen pizza, kebab and Co. – but this is simply wrong! Of course, some things have to be done quickly, or you just don't feel like cooking and have something coming up. But as a rule, the generation is already much more one of gourmet students. For many students it is important to pay attention to their diet and not to stuff everything haphazardly into themselves. Cooking for yourself and also together, is sociable and on top of that also saves money compared to constantly ordering or going out to eat.
